1. Overview
BillDecoder.au is an independent electricity bill analysis service. We use artificial intelligence to read your bill, identify what you're paying, and recommend actions to reduce your costs.
BillDecoder is not a comparison site, not an electricity retailer, and not a financial advisor. Our analysis provides estimates and recommendations that are indicative, not guaranteed. Always verify details directly with your retailer or a qualified professional before making changes.
2. Service description
Free tier: Upload your bill, receive a verdict (overpaying, fair, or competitive), and ask limited follow-up questions. No sign-up required.
Bill Action Plan — $29 residential: A personalised PDF report with your bill decoded in plain English, pre-filled call scripts for your retailer, a ready-to-send negotiation email, rebate eligibility screening with claim instructions, prioritised savings actions with dollar values, and access to the Action Coach.
Concession Bill Action Plan — $9: The same residential plan at reduced pricing for eligible concession card holders.
Business Bill Action Plan — $97: Everything in the residential plan, plus demand charge analysis, power factor assessment, a printable electrician brief, and business-specific rebate programs.
Annual Bill Tracker — $49/year (future service): Upload each bill as it arrives, track your costs over time, and receive alerts when better deals become available in your area.
3. Money-back guarantee
If BillDecoder cannot identify at least $100 in potential annual savings or eligible rebates in your Bill Action Plan, you are entitled to a full refund.
To claim a refund, email hello@billdecoder.au within 30 days of purchase with your analysis ID. Refunds are processed within 5 business days via the original payment method.
One claim per bill analysed. The guarantee applies to Bill Action Plan purchases only, not to the free verdict.
4. Concession pricing
$9 pricing is available for holders of a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, DVA Gold Card, or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.
Concession pricing is offered on an honour system. By selecting concession pricing, you confirm that you hold a valid concession card. BillDecoder reserves the right to verify eligibility. Misuse of concession pricing may result in being charged the standard $29 price.
5. Payments
Payments are processed securely via Stripe. BillDecoder does not store your credit card details.
All prices are in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST.
Bill Action Plan purchases are one-time payments with no recurring charges. The Annual Bill Tracker (when available) is a recurring annual subscription that can be cancelled at any time.
6. Email communications
By entering your email address during the verdict flow, you consent to receive your analysis results and occasional tips to reduce your electricity bill.
You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. We use Resend as our email provider.
7. AI processing
Your bill is analysed using artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude). The AI extracts data from your bill; calculations such as annual cost estimates, savings figures, and comparisons are performed deterministically by our code.
AI-generated content — including call scripts, negotiation emails, and recommendations — should be reviewed before use. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-extracted data. If you notice an error in your report, contact us for a correction or refund.
8. Bill processing and queuing
If our analysis system is temporarily unavailable, we store your bill securely and deliver results by email within 2 hours.
Queued bills are encrypted at rest and automatically deleted after 48 hours regardless of whether delivery succeeds.
9. Quality review
We may review your report for quality assurance before or after delivery. Reviews are conducted internally by BillDecoder staff and do not delay delivery.
Your personal information is only accessed during quality review to verify report accuracy. We do not share report contents with any third party.
10. Intellectual property
Bill Action Plan reports are provided for your personal or business use only. You may not redistribute, resell, or publish reports without written permission from BillDecoder.
All content on billdecoder.au — including text, design, and analysis methodology — is the property of BillDecoder and may not be reproduced without permission.
11. Limitation of liability
BillDecoder provides estimates and recommendations, not guarantees of savings. We are not responsible for decisions made based on our analysis.
We are not financial advisors, licensed electricians, or energy consultants. Always verify recommendations with qualified professionals before acting.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BillDecoder's total liability for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian law, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service or refunding the price paid.
12. Independence commitment
BillDecoder does not accept commissions, referral fees, or payments from any electricity retailer, distributor, or energy company. Our revenue comes entirely from Bill Action Plan sales. This independence is structural and permanent.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. The date at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised. Continued use of BillDecoder after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
