Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA)

EAPA is one-off emergency assistance, not an ongoing rebate. Vouchers are $50 each. You can apply more than once if you face repeated hardship, but it is assessed each time.

Who is eligible

>Anyone experiencing short-term financial hardship paying their electricity bill

>No concession card required

>Must be unable to pay your bill due to a crisis or emergency

How to apply

1.Apply online at Service NSW or call 13 77 88

2.Or contact a community welfare organisation: Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul Society, Anglicare, community centres

3.For disputes with your retailer, call EWON (Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW) on 1800 246 545

4.A welfare worker will assess your situation and issue vouchers if eligible

5.Vouchers are $50 each and applied electronically to your energy account

Common mistakes

You do not need a concession card to access EAPA — anyone in short-term financial hardship can apply

You can apply through Service NSW online or on 13 77 88, or through community organisations

EWON (1800 246 545) is free, independent, and can also help resolve disputes with your retailer

Combining with other rebates

EAPA is separate from ongoing rebates. You can receive EAPA assistance while also receiving the Low Income Household Rebate or other ongoing rebates.
